Tonight Europe has chosen! The winner of the 2018 Eurovision Song Contest is Netta from Israel with the song “Toy”. Netta Barzilai became the 4th Eurovision winner who won this competition singing for Israel.

The winner country scored a combined 529 points from the jury and the public vote last night, beating Cyprus with 436 points and Austria with 342 points.

A total of 26 countries competed in the Grand Final of the 2018 Eurovision on Saturday night, but only one nation took home the crystal trophy.

The Eurovision trophy was handed to the winner by last year’s winner Salvador Sobral, and on the stage the Israeli singer said of her win: “Thank you so much for choosing different. Thank you so much for accepting differences between us. Thank you for celebrating diversity. I love my country!”

Grand Final of the 2018 Eurovision Song Contest was held tonight, at the Altice Arena in Lisbon, Portugal.

Israel has participated in the Eurovison Song Contest 41 times since their first appearance in 1973, and won the contest 4 times: in 1978, 1979, 1988, and 2018. They hosted the event twice in Jerusalem in 1979 and 1999. We are waiting to see which city will be chosen as a host city for the next year’s event.
