Her dream came true. The Greek national broadcaster – Hellenic Broadcasting Corporation (ERT) has chosen Yianna Terzi to represent the nation in the 2018 Eurovision Song Contest in Portugal with the song “Oneiro Mou”.

The winner song was written by Yianna Terzi along with Aris Kalimeris, Dimitris Stamatiou, and Mihalis Papathanasiou, and was released through Panik Records.

National selection

This year Greece had a plan to organize a national final after two consecutive years of internal selection.

ERT has sent a letter to leading record labels requesting songs for the national selection. Some of the rules requested that the entries should be performed in Greek language and have an ethno native sound as well. ERT has also requested assure from the record labels in case their song won the national selection, they will exclusively finance the Greek entry (staging in Lisbon, promotion and music video). The expert jury has chosen 5 finalist in front of the 20 received songs:

Gianna Terzi “Oneiro Mou” (My dream) / Panik Records

Areti Katime “Min ksehnas ton ilio” (Do not forget the sun) / The Spicy Effect

Chorostalites “Apo tin Thraki eos tin Kriti” (From Thrace to Crete) / Spider Music

Duo Fina”Idio tempo” (Same tempo) / Records On Top

Tony Vlahos “Baila jazz” (Dance jazz) / Spider Music

In November 2017 two songs were disqualified by the jury stating that in spite of having high quality, they do not have a traditional Greek sound. Duo Fina “Idio tempo” and Tony Vlahos “Baila Jazz” were both eliminated.

In February 2018, ERT announced that two of the three record companies (The Spicy Effect and Spider Music) did not pay the amount requested by ERT (€ 20,000) and were excluded from the Greek Final. The national final scheduled for February 22 was not held, and on February 16th, ERT confirmed that the only remaining act, Gianna Terzi will represent Greece at the Eurovision Song Contest 2018.

Yianna Terzi will be performing her song in the second half of the first semi-final, which will be held on 8th May in Portugal.

Congratulations and good luck!
